Frequently asked questions
Everything worth knowing before you book: how booking works, what to bring, when your files arrive and what happens if you need to cancel.
Booking and scheduling
How do I request a session?
Fill in the form on the contact page, call 020 846 3172 or email [email protected]. Tell us what you want to record, how many people are coming and which dates suit you. Within 2 working days you receive a proposal and a written quote.
When is my booking confirmed?
As soon as you have accepted the quote and we have received the 30% deposit. Until then the slot is not held for you, so reply quickly if the date works.
On which days and at what times can I record?
Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, closed on Sunday. By appointment only. Because we only work by appointment, we schedule sessions with time between bookings. Weekday evening sessions can run until 22:00.
Can I book if I am under age?
From age 16 you can book yourself. If you are younger, a parent or guardian makes the booking and attends the session.
Can I visit the studio before booking?
Yes, by appointment. Send a message through the contact page and we will pick a moment when no session is running, so you can see the live room, control room and booth for yourself.
The session itself
Is an engineer always present?
Yes. Every recording session has an engineer in the control room. You are not just renting a room but also someone who picks microphones, watches levels and helps you judge takes.
How many people can record at the same time?
Up to 6 musicians play together in the 48 m² live room. The podcast table seats 4 speakers. More on band sessions on the live band recording page.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Not necessarily. We have 34 microphones plus the amplification and headphones you need. Bring your own instrument, and if you rely on a particular amp or pedals for your sound, bring those too.
How should I prepare?
Rehearse the songs until you can play them without thinking, know your tempo and bring lyrics on paper. Singers will find a dedicated guide in preparing a vocal session.
Can a voice-over be directed remotely?
Yes. A client or director can listen live and give directions while the voice actor is in the booth. Find out more on the voice-over page.
Files and delivery
How quickly do I get my files?
We deliver within 7 working days of the session or, for mixing and mastering, of receiving all the tracks. For larger projects we agree a schedule in advance.
How long do you keep my project?
Project files are kept for 6 months after the last session and then deleted. Always keep your own backup of everything we deliver.
How many revision rounds come with a mix?
Mixing includes 2 rounds of revisions. Group your feedback per round with timecodes so we can make targeted changes. Extra rounds are charged by the hour, after we have discussed them with you.
How do I deliver tracks I recorded elsewhere?
Export every track as a separate audio file from the same start point, with no processing on the master bus. The full checklist is in delivering tracks for mixing.
How loud will my master be?
That depends on the genre and where the music is released: streaming, vinyl and CD each ask for something slightly different. We explain the trade-offs in loudness in mastering and set the target together during mastering.
Rights and data
Who owns the recordings?
Your compositions and lyrics remain yours. What happens with the recordings themselves is set out in the quote and our terms and conditions. If you have specific needs, for example for a label, raise them before the session.
Can you use my recording as a showcase?
Only with your explicit permission. Without your consent we do not play any part of your project to anyone else.
What do you do with my personal data?
We use your details to answer your request, schedule your session and invoice you. How long we keep what, and which rights you have, is explained in the privacy policy.
Do you sign a data processing agreement with companies?
Yes. When we process personal data on behalf of your organisation, for example staff voices for e-learning, our data processing agreement applies.
Payment and cancellation
Do prices include VAT?
Yes, prices on this site include 21% VAT. An hour of vocal recording costs €85, mastering €70 per track. The services page also lists amounts excluding VAT.
How does the deposit work?
On booking you pay 30% of the quoted amount. The deposit is deducted from the final invoice, and you pay the balance after the session.
What payment terms apply to businesses?
Business clients pay the final invoice within 14 days. The invoice shows the VAT number of Vedrodev B.V.: NL824321960B01.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Up to 3 days before the session you can cancel or reschedule at no cost. After that we charge 50% of the booked amount, because the slot usually cannot be filled at short notice. The full rules are in the terms and conditions.
What if the studio has to cancel?
We contact you as soon as possible and offer a new date. If you would rather not reschedule, your deposit is refunded.
