About the studio
Vedrodev is a small recording studio on the Overtoom in Amsterdam Oud-West. Since 2019 we have worked with musicians, podcasters and voice actors who like to know what they are getting before they start.

How it started
Joris van Leeuwen founded the studio in 2019 in a nineteenth-century brick building in Oud-West. The idea was straightforward: a place where you are not watching the clock by the minute, and where the time you book actually goes into your recording. That means working by appointment, leaving room between sessions and having an engineer who knows the project from start to finish.
Today there are three of us and we cover the whole chain: recording, editing, mixing and mastering. No need to carry your files across town to finish a song.
Three rooms, each with its own job
- Live room, 48 m²: a band of up to 6 musicians plays together here, every instrument on its own track.
- Control room, 26 m²: acoustically treated, with a direct line of sight into the live room. Recording, mixing and mastering happen here.
- Vocal booth, 9 m²: for vocals, single instruments, voice-over and podcasts with up to 4 speakers.
We keep 34 microphones on hand, so we can pick one for each voice or instrument instead of recording everything through the same model. The services we offer in these rooms are listed on the services page.
How we work
Every job starts with a conversation and a written quote. You know in advance what it costs, how much time we schedule and what you receive at the end. We answer requests within 2 working days.
After the session we deliver within 7 working days. Mixing includes 2 rounds of revisions, so you can listen properly and send feedback. Project files are kept for 6 months and then deleted, so keep your own backup as well. The details are in our terms and conditions.
Getting here
Tram 1 stops close to the studio on the Overtoom (Jan Pieter Heijestraat stop). From Leidseplein it is about a 20-minute walk along the Vondelpark. You can park bikes outside the door; car parking in Oud-West is paid and limited.
The studio opens by appointment only: Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, closed on Sunday. By appointment only. All practical details are on the contact page.
Clear up front
Fixed rates including VAT and a written quote. No surprise items on the invoice.
Time for the take
We work by appointment and leave space between sessions, so nobody has to rush the final take.
One team, start to finish
Recording, mixing and mastering in-house. The people who know your recording are the ones who finish it.
